The Virtual IMS user group is an independently-operated vendor-neutral site run by and for the IMS user community.
The Virtual IMS user group was established as a way for individuals using IBM's IMS hierarchical database and transactional processing system to exchange information, learn new techniques, and advance their skills with the product.
This Web site provides a central point for coordinating periodic meetings (which contain technically-oriented topics presented in a webinar format), and provides articles, discussions, links, and other resources of interest to IBM IMS practitioners. Anyone with an interest in IMS is welcome to join the Virtual IMS user group and share in the knowledge exchange.
The Virtual IMS user group is free to its members.
Much like BMC sponsors the IMS Listserv, so our user group needs support. We are pleased that Rocket Software is able to help us maintain the independence and existence of this group.
In order for this user group to continue operating in 2020, we are looking for new sponsors.
We are looking for an organization to pay for the administration costs, host the 12 years' worth of resources on this Web site, and also provide access to Webex or similar so that we can hold the virtual user group meetings.
If you would like to find out more about sponsorship, please contact Trevor Eddolls at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Otherwise, this Web site and this user group will cease to exist at the end of this year.
The most recent virtual meeting of the user group on 3 December included a presentation by Gary Euler, Consultant at MainTegrity Inc and Al Saurette, VP Business Development at Maintegrity Inc. They were discussing, "Providing system integrity for multiple LPARs with improved GDPR and PCI/DSS compliance".
Copies of this presentation in PDF format are available for download here.
You can listen again to the whole of the last meeting here.
The meetings take place at 10:30am CST (which 16:30 GMT), and 10:30 CDT (which is 15:30 GMT) during Daylight Saving Time. Because Summer Time and Daylight Saving Time start and end dates differ in different countries, take care to get online for the meeting at the correct local time!

How do you know what's really going on at other mainframe sites?
As a member of the Virtual IMS user group, I thought you would be interested in the Arcati Mainframe Yearbook. Each year, it publishes a mainframe users' survey. And you can be part of that survey to tell us your opinion.
If you're prepared to give up 10 minutes of your time to complete a survey form, we will send you a free copy of the survey results when they are published in January. Your identity and company information will be treated in confidence and will not be divulged to third parties.
The annual mainframe user survey form is here. Tell us what it's like where you work.
Do you have a hot topic in mind that you think other IMS users would like to hear about? Know of a dynamic speaker who can educate and entertain? Send us a note!
